Dr. Megan Walch has a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours from the University of Tasmania, a Master of Fine Arts with a Samsag Scholarship from the San Francisco Art Institute and studio-led PhD with an Australian Post Graduate Award.
Megan is an artist who thinks through paint, using materiality, perception and visual cognition to explore how we make sense of an unstable world. Meg draws upon the fluid and transformative qualities of painting and drawing media to explore our capacity to adapt to constant change.
Her work combines abstraction and figuration, influenced by visual traditions from both Europe and South East Asia. Meg’s artistic research and ideas have been shaped through residencies and projects in Europe, the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Tokyo, and Tasmania.
